  1. When I email an expense report following the instructions in #4 above, the text comes through in the email, but the .csv report is no attached. I see the following message on my phone "Maximum message size reached. No more attachments allowed"

Is there any way that I can simply export the file to the file to the computer without using email?

    1. Hi John,

Yes, there's another way to export the .csv file. You can try to backup the event to Dropbox by tapping "Backup" on the "Settings" tab. The .csv file will be uploaded to your Dropbox. Make sure that you compose the email as you did first because the .csv is generated when composing the email.

  2. Hello,

When I send out my report, the excel spreadsheet's date comes out as 20130409. How can I change the settings so where it comes out as 04/09/2013? Thanks

  3. Love the app. One feature request - it would be great to be able to link two users who share expenses (i.e. a married couple) or add a multiplier to one user to represent two. Otherwise I still end up with A owes B and B owes C scenarios with larger group trips.

    1. Hi Alison,

Thanks for the suggestion. We already introduced this feature in Android version. And we will bring it to our iPhone users soon.

  4. The App is great, and fine to group-travel with. The best I've seen so far.

Additionally to the multiplyer mentioned above, is there a way to split bills not equally - sometimes someone eats/drinks more than others or someone get cheaper tickets etc.?
30.06.2013 Drinks 65,00 EUR paid from: Stefan (65,00 EUR) Parts(e): Stefan (5,00 EUR) Friend 1 (10,00 EUR) Freind 2 (rest)
Maybe a percentage would be great (per receipt, because sometimes someone pays for someone else and sometimes not. The Android-Solution mentioned above is generally fixed per event)

When exporting, in the csv-file I'm missing the "who paid" and "who was involved"-numbers. In the email-text it is included.
    e.g.
email: 30.06.2013 Drinks 65,00 EUR paid from: Stefan (65,00 EUR) Anteil(e): Stefan (32,50 EUR) Friend 1 (32,50 EUR)
    csv: 30.06.2012/ "Where" /category Drings:65,00 EUR / missing "who"/
    The sum is shown correctly.

When looking at the expenses afterwards - is there a way to see the persons beeing part of the receipt? When opening "unequal" again all possible persons are marked again.

    1. Hi Stefan,

Are you using the Android or iOS version of the app? We just updated the Android version (2.3.6) to show the "who paid" and "who was involved" numbers in csv reports (after the columns of the categories). If you are using the iOS version, please wait for a while for the update.

      Thanks,

    1. Hi Castel,

You can check the details of the receipts by the followings steps: click "Share" at the right top corner of the "Reports" page->choose "Email". You can see the details in the email body. If you still find something wrong, you can forward the email to us.

  9. great application guys, works nice!! I have two questions though, can projects created on an iPhone be restored on an android?
secondly is there any way that multiple people can use the same project with their own phones. So that for example everyone can actually upload the activities they paid for and all other phones will be updated. that would be really great!

    1. Hi,

No, you cannot restore projects created on an iphone on an android. The sync feature is actually already available in our android version. We will work later to include it in the iphone version too.

      Thanks,

  11. The program apparently became corrupted and stopped working so I deleted and reinstalled it. I can see all of the data on the phone using my laptop, but the reinstalled program will not read it. Is there a way to import this data? I tried uploading it to Dropbox and restoring the data, but that did not work.

    Thanks

  12. Hi, I have a year's worth of receipts on my iPhone but cannot send the report to my email. When I select email, it does nothing and eventually closes the app and takes me back to the desktop on my phone. I cannot install Drop Box because it requires iOS 7.0 and I do not have the space to upgrade to 7.0. I do back up to iCloud. Is there a way to use iCloud? Is there a way to access my Receipt Ninja account on my PC? Is there a way to transfer or sync to my iPad? Or am I just out of luck?

  13. When I back up to DropBox, no .csv report is uploaded, only the receipts. When I try to share the report, the program stops working. When I look at the folder on my phone there is no .csv report. I need the report. How do I generate it? Thanks.

    1. Hi John,

You need to share the report by email first. The csv report is generated when the email is composed. If it stops working when sharing the report, it might because you have a lot of receipts, the processing may take some time.

      Thanks,

  15. I want to be able to add receipts when I don't have my phone and I am at a computer. A user interface online that syncs would be awesome!

In the meantime I am using an android emulator, but it's just not working. In the emulator version of receipt ninja, inevents, it lists all the events from my android phone. But I can't open the event to enter receipts or look at receipts. When I click the event it goes to a window where I can type in the name of the event. If I click enter it says duplicate name not allowed or something like that. How can I make this work? I'll start from scratch if necessary. Thanks!

  16. I have used Receipt Ninja for sometime to keep track of my expenses and find the program very useful. I have just purchased a new cell phone and have loaded the program on it. I backed up all of the data files on the old phone to Dropbox. I can see the files on Dropbox with a .db extension, but I unable to restore them to the new phone. The program generates an error message to the effect that Receipt Ninja cannot find the file. Is there some way to change the program settings so it will find these .db files? If not how can I import this important data? Thanks in advance for your help.
